Track it with FurNote, step by step

1. STEP 01

   Open the symptom record

   Go to Records, pick your pet, and open the Symptom tab. The first time, you'll see an empty state ready for the first entry.

2. STEP 02

   Add a symptom entry

   Tap the plus button and choose the symptom type (vomiting, coughing, sneezing, scratching, limping, or other), then note how often it's happening and how long it lasts. Specifics help. 'Threw up twice around 3 a.m.' or 'favoring the right hind leg after a walk' gives your vet far more than 'not feeling well.'

3. STEP 03

   Add a photo (Pro)

   Tap Add photo to pull one from your library or take one on the spot. Skin redness, the color of vomit, an unusual stool, these are all worth capturing. FurNote ties the photo to the entry. Free users see an upgrade prompt and can log the text now and add photos later.

4. STEP 04

   Keep logging to see the pattern

   Log each recurrence, not just the first. Over a couple of weeks, repeated entries and photos can reveal a pattern, the same ear flaring up again and again, or things settling after a change, that a single visit would miss.

5. STEP 05

   Export before the visit

   Go to Export, select symptom records and a date range, and generate a PDF. Your entries and photos embed into it, so your vet sees the actual images instead of 'it looked a bit red.'

Frequently asked

Do photo attachments require Pro?

Yes. Adding new photos is a Pro feature. Free users can still create text symptom records and view or delete existing attachments. They just can't add new photos.

How many photos can one entry hold?

Up to five attachments per record. If one issue needs a few angles, front, side, and a close-up, you can add them all to the same entry.

Do photos sync to my other devices?

Yes. FurNote stores them in the cloud and syncs across your phone, tablet, and the web. Photos taken offline upload once you're back online.

I logged something a month ago and it turned out fine. Can I delete it?

You can, anytime. But keeping entries around for a while is handy: if an old symptom returns, past records help your vet see whether it's the same pattern.

What symptom types can I record?

FurNote offers a set of common types, vomiting, coughing, sneezing, scratching, limping, and other, each with fields for how often and how long it lasts, plus a photo on Pro. The habit that helps most is being specific and adding a picture.
